  1. Enable multiple words per-line view for "view all" pages

I like the new interface that displays words in blocks with multiple words on each line. Currently when you press "view all" for the synonym/antonym blocks it goes back to your traditional one-word per line format. Multiple words per line is the way to go, much easier to sort through the words and find the one you want.

  3. Definitions on the synonyms page in the drop-down for each word

In the drop-down for synonyms, you could easily have the definition underneath the synonyms for that word.

  4. Develop a new Word Bank Feature

While the existing features are great and helpful, things like pinning words, or favorite search terms, for me as a writer I find the capability to create my own custom word bank extremely intriguing. Here's an example to help you see what I'm envisioning. I search for exaggerate, I discover an idiom I really like 'blow out of proportion', then I select a heart icon to save it to my word bank. This would be a phenomenal feature, it may only require a simple plug-in, similar to many food blogs' custom favorites recipe box. Of course, this is just a…

  5. Add personal glosary.

I want to be able to create a list of words that I've searched for.

It could be a simple list, containing only the terms without any additional info, but they must be clickable, so I could easily search again.

I also would like to be able to download that list as a simple .txt file OR to be able to copy all terms in the list at once.

I often find myself searching for the same terms, so an option like that would be really helpful.

  6. Add an option other than yes and no for voting, such as "near" or "related"

Often, when I'm voting on synonyms, I come across a word that I know not to be a synonym, but see as related.

One example: A hornet is not a honey bee and it is only one genus of insect. While I might vote that "hornet" is not a synonym of either, a writer or reader would certainly benefit from knowing that bees and insects are related.

Assuming that some voters will call them synonyms anyway seems like a messier solution

  8. Option to filter out profanity

There should be an option to filter out profanity.

If someone is using a thesaurus, don't they want to expand their vocabulary, not become more lazy by resorting to swearing?

Either way, making this an option would be good.

  9. Support "quiet" extensions like Tranquility (if offering ad-free subscriptions is too much trouble)

The 'unobtrusive' ads in the browser version are actually quite distracting to me. Happy to pay a small monthly fee, but if you could set your pages to display synonyms when quiet reader extensions are invoked, that would suit me fine. Currently, when I turn on Tranquility in Firefox all I see is the count of synonyms and a copyright notice. If I have a way to see results without ads, I promise to donate.

  14. Make definitions for suffixed forms of words easier to find.

Hi there. I love powerthesaurus! Use it all the time and am very grateful for it, but I have a suggestion. Often, when I go to look at the definition of a word, if the word is in an extended form, with -ed or -ing or -ingly, etc added to the end, the definition often just tells me to go to the root word for the definition. I.e. the definition for "panted" just says "of Pant".

And my suggestion is that I think it'd be very handy if that word "Pant" in "of Pant" was clickable, or if the definition…

  16. Allow us to add to our personal glossary on the app version please!

I use the ios app- I noticed (i think) I can only ‘star’ words as my favourites when on desktop. It would be really cool to be able to do this on the app too! Thanks :)

  17. search select text

I think it would be great we are able to automatically search for a selected word when press the shortcut to search in the web extension. What I mean is, if I've selected a word and then when I use the shortcut to active the search on power thesaurus it automatically fill the input with the selected word.

  18. The ability to add personal ‘tags’ to our glossary please!

On words that we have starred, it would be amazing to be able to add tags so we can organise them based on what they’re relevant to us for. Some dictionary apps/websites have the ability to add words to a list, which is good, but it would be cool to have tags like ‘adjectives’, ‘political’, ‘emotive’ etc and then filter the results so some aren’t lost.

    (What i mean by ‘lost’)
So for example, ‘lost’ within a big list of adjectives I’d like to remember, etc.
Or, if I save my favourite words for art analysis, some of these may…

  19. Wikipedia support as a new category other than synonyms, definitions, etc?

Like the ‘https://www.thefreedictionary.com/’ app- I’m not sure how difficult it is to add wikipedia content (on your end)- but in words that have a Wikipedia page it would be cool to be able to have that as an option separate from the definition.

This is my favourite dictionary/thesaurus referencing app/website by far! I don’t want to have to go between it and the others if possible ;) hahaha (as long as it’s not too hard on the developers end that is)

We are currently working on adding term definitions from Wiktionary to definitions.

As for Wikipedia articles as a separate list (e.g. encyclopedic articles) – we might consider this after some evaluation.

As an alternative this could be part of “definitions” with special list filter – dictionary or encyclopedia.

Please use comments for your thoughts on this.

  20. Separate/Differentiate SLANG From Formal Language... Slang often completely dominates word lists!

Offer a way to filter slang from formal usage. Or arranged in some way where search results categorize proper/formal language, and then slang separate from it. Having slang dominating search results is really not that helpful (and time consuming to scroll through search results for proper words in the language). I'd also like to see slang--but as an option, separated from the truer form of the language. It should have a search result or list of its own. The two shouldn't be mixed. As a thesaurus including definitions, slang shouldn't be the first results you see. That's not a priority…
