  1. Dark theme

    There was a suggestion regarding having dark theme for old and new versions of Power Thesaurus. Please let us know if support this one.

  2. Give example sentences of all the words. That way the person can know if a particular word conveys the precise meaning he wants.

    The new examples list has been added to most words. Further work to show the most appropriate examples within terms (e.g. synonyms) is planned.

    We have also changed default preview lists to synonyms, antonyms, definitions and examples. Please note that other lists are also available and can be used in preview.

  3. Please please focus on the quality of the results

    I'm an old user for PowerThesaurus where I use it to get fancy words for my research papers since English is NOT my first language. However, It is very clear that the quality of synonyms the past couple of months is getting worse. It's like Trump is suggesting the synonyms for me.

    Hello,

    Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    The results are sorted by rating that is given by site users.

    Also, all terms and their synonyms / antonyms have Report feature that allows to trigger invalid terms for manual review.

    We also make the voting more prominent in next release. This should improve the quality of results as registered users will be able to vote more.

    Its so fantastic to have a no nonsense site aimed at power users.
    I have since installed the app and Chrome extensions and will be promoting to my friends!

  6. Increase the number of possible results from 5 to 10

    In the settings menu, allow users to increase the number of synonym/antonym results beyond 5.

    As part of this update, users should also be able to adjust font size, so that powerthesarus doesn't take up too much screen space.

  10. Go back to the old format!!!

    What a disaster the new format is. It's stingy with information, options and results. The whole benefit of the old format was its generosity. Everything was in front of you--long lists of varied word results, ready menus for antonyms, links on each word to go in another direction. You ruined a marvelous thing!

    When a synonym has been downvoted under 0, it should be removed.

    Unfortunately there are some cases when the word is in negatives, yet it’s a good fit.

    We have two mechanisms now:

    1. The editorial team performs regular checks for popular pages and do deletions when appropriate.

    2. If the list term has been in negatives for 3 months and there is no positive change of rating, then it is deleted automatically.

  12. Reconfigure Parts of Speech

    The Noun and Verb filters should automatically include expressions, idioms and phrases (and phrasal verbs). I shouldn't have to click and review the list 4 times to cover all the possible verb or noun synonyms. If necessary, you could add "one-word noun" and "one-word verb" filters. Another option is to allow more than one filter at a time.

  15. Track session lineages

    I think it would be cool if on the side panel it tracked through the words the user directly clicked through. So every time a word was entered in the search menu it would be a new 'session' and as the user clicked each word into sequentially more specific words, it could display a line chart on the back. This would be (1) simply interesting but also (2) give the user a way to backtrack when they started going down the wrong 'path' and revert back to a previous word.

    If/how the system would handle going back i.e. a fork…

  16. I love power thesaurus

    I love power thesaurus, I use it all the time when I'm writing but the new design is awful. I get that you're going for a more upgraded look which is fine, but the part I miss most is that the cursor doesn't automatically go back to the search bar, so whenever I flick back to the page I can't type straight away and that was one of the better features that other sites don't have and its obvious to me now because its gone. Helps me look up stuff fast when I need to keep searching words constantly. That…

  19. Include the ability to add topics to pre-existing words

    I know you can re-add the same word with the topics appended, but this is unintuitive and is also unclear as to how it should work in corner cases.

    I suggest an edit button appended on the right hand side of the column for each word, so as to allow the topics to then be corrected more intuitively.
